About us

AgroGene Solutions was founded in 2023 in Moncton, Canada. We are a professional and experienced scientific team with many years of research and development experience, offering scientifically validated solutions for beehive management. Our innovative tools help in evaluating the health status of honeybees and identifying potential pathogenic infections that could threaten a hive survival. Our services are tailored for all beekeepers; whether you have one hive or thousands of hives. Together, we work to ensure the health of bees, which is essential for global food security and the sustainability of agricultural ecosystems.

Pascale Michaud, PhD
CEO

After completing her undergraduate training in biochemistry at Université de Moncton, Pascale pursued her graduate studies at Université Laval in Québec City. During her PhD, she developed an expertise in gene regulation and molecular biology techniques.  In 2020, she obtained her PhD in molecular and cellular biology, and moved back to New Brunswick to join the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department of Université de Moncton as a lecturer for undergraduate classes and labs. In 2021, she joined the team as a research assistant and conducted the R&D that led to the creation of AgroGene Solutions. Pascale also completed several entrepreneurship programs which gave her the opportunity to learn more about business development and build partnerships with key players in the ecosystem.

Luc Boudreau, PhD
COO

After having studied the bee-derived compound during his doctoral studies, Luc pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in Quebec City in 2012. His motivation was to increase his skills in the field of chronic inflammation, primarily studying the molecular mechanism of rheumatoid arthritis. He brings to the company a strong scientific background, a vast network of international academic and industrial collaborators, experience in patent writing and deposition, as well as strong leadership skills acquired through supervision of research teams. Since 2015, Luc is an Associate Professor in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at the Université de Moncton.

Nicolas Pichaud, PhD
CIO

Nicolas is an expert in mitochondrial bioenergetics and metabolism and has skills in molecular biology and evolutionary biology. During his academic career, he has consolidated his expertise by working in different laboratories around the world and has notably acquired outstanding technical expertise for the measurement of several metabolic parameters in insect species. Since 2015, he is an Associate Professor in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at the Université de Moncton with an exceptional track record: in the last six years, he has published around 30 papers (62 in total, 3000+ citations; h-index = 28, i10 index = 45) in specialized high impact journals. Of interest he is also collaborating with several industrial partners such as SCF Pharma, Iso-Biokem inc. (QC), Natures Crops International (PEI) and Amohive (Poland) to develop nutraceutical supplements for honeybees.

Gilles Robichaud, PhD
CFO

Gilles obtained his PhD in microbiology and immunology from Université Laval in 2001. He then pursued a first postdoc fellowship in molecular pathology (ACRI, 2001-03) and then undertook a second postdoc (Université de Sherbrooke, 2003-06) studying RNA biology and cell signaling. Since his employment on a tenure-track position in 2006 in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at the Université de Moncton, he has received multiple awards such as the "New Investigator Award" from the CIHR, NB researcher of the month (NB Health Research Foundation), Top 25 mentors in NB (NBIF), and researcher of the year (2022, UdeMoncton). Through his expertise in cellular genomics, Gilles has developed a productive research program, which has trained over 136 highly qualified personnel, published over 30 peer-reviewed papers, presented at over 115 conferences, and awarded national grants. His expertise in genomic profiling has also generated many fruitful collaborations with partners such as: Ford’s Apothecary, Moncton, NB.; Soricimed BioPharma Inc., and Aboriginal Millennium Health Products Inc. (Tobique First Nation, NB.).
